An estimated 500 million people lack access to menstrual products and education. This lack of access can lead to health risks, missed school or work, and social stigma. Our goal is to enable everyone to manage menstruation with dignity, while also providing menstrual care programs for underserved communities.

Background

Background

Period poverty is a critical global issue. An estimated 400 million people lack access to menstrual products and education. This lack of access can lead to health risks, missed school or work, and social stigma.

Tackling period poverty is crucial for promoting gender equality and community health, with studies showing that improved menstrual health solutions can reduce absenteeism in school and the workplace, while enhancing personal confidence, all of which contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty.

In Hong Kong, we have already seen how impactful providing access to safe menstrual products can be in these situations.

Through an initiative between The Zubin Foundation and LUÜNA to provide free menstrual products and menstrual health workshops to girls from ethnic minority communities, 68% said free products had lessened the financial burden of menstruation on their family, 27% said it had lessened the amount of school days missed due to menstruation, and 61% said it had improved their relationship with their menstrual cycle.

Through this campaign, we aim to scale and deepen this work with long-term positive impact.
